It's the day before October. There are many different reasons I love October, but the biggest reason is its my birth month and we can start “Crocktober” . A while ago a friend had introduced it to me and it just hung with me and I try to use my crockpot as much as I can in the fall months for many reasons. Such as super easy to set up, don’t have to worry about cooking when we have plans (set it and forget it type of mode). Fall is busy for lots of families for many different reasons between school, work, activities etc. Why worry about one thing you don’t have to worry about???
So this month I will be showcasing some easy kid friendly Crockpot meals and would love for you to join me and share as well, share on our social media. You never know there might be a few great giveaways for you and your family coming up ;) …
So to kick off this Crocktober Series I am going to share some of my favorite tips ..
- Use those Slow Cooker liners (I buy them at Shoprite and Dollar Tree Even) they are LIFESAVERS and make life A LOT easier.
- Plan out your meals so you can food shop and stay on your budget. For example, this week we are doing Sausage Peppers and Onions, Chicken and Dumplings, BBQ Chicken it's a short week since the kids are off.. You can follow the recipes on our Facebook HERE.
- Keep your lid on … Even if it looks enticing to open it that stops the cooking process because it lets the moisture and heat out of your crock.
- Do NOT overfill your crock pot you want to make sure the seal is there to keep that heat and moisture INSIDE not out…
- Experiment and try new things you never know if something will come out to be the best thing you tasted.
- Use the High/Low settings usually recipes call for 4 hours on HIGH or 8 hours of Low… I like the SLOW method b/c I like to get everything done in the morning and not have to worry about it midday when my mayhem starts..
Can’t wait to see what you create in your Crock .. If you have any crock questions I can try and answer them as best as I can… Welcome to CROCKTOBER <3
