The other night, my son, who is 3.5 (going on 25) decided to put on a play.  He called it “Proudly Presents” and introduced our cats as his featured players (“Introducing Mali the cat! She runs away all the time!” “And Introducing Loki, she is the black cat who scratches me!”)  He loves this type of play and it is actually no surprise—he comes from a long line of hams.  My father was in the HiFi’s, a comedy troupe in the 60’s, my husband, a musician ...

Come to the library on Wednesdays and meet with our Origami Club, a group of kids and young adults who are interested in Origami. Origami is the art or process, originating in Japan, of folding paper into shapes which turn into decorative objects. Our goal is to fold 1000 paper cranes, which is a sign of good luck, and give them to a local hospital or charity.

A glowing way to ring in the Lunar New Year


Chinese Paper Lanterns

1.      Construction paper

2.      Pencil

3.      Ruler

4.      Scissors

5.      Stapler - Tape

6.      Markers - Crayons

Use the ruler and make a straight line about 3/4" away from one of the 6.5" long edges. Cut this strip off and set it aside to be the lantern handle.
